Andy Hogue came on board as a correspondent with Lone Star Report in August 2008 -- immediately after having completed five years as a reporter and assistant editor with the Gainesville Daily Register in Gainesville, Texas, where his beat included local and state politics.
In May 2003, Hogue earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from the University of North Texas in Denton, where he minored in political science and graphic design and served as copy editor and a columnist for the North Texas Daily. During his time at UNT, he was nominated chief justice of the Student Supreme Court and was involved in many other campus activities and causes in the Denton area.
In Gainesville, Hogue was president of a local Keep Texas Beautiful affiliate, president of a chapter of Optimist International, and was chairman of a community center which served inner city youth and families. Hogue continues his work with youth through Austin Grace Church of the Nazarene in north central Austin.
He is the son of Curtis and Teresa Hogue of rural Cooke County, Texas, and has one brother, Randal, who serves in the U.S. Air Force as a communications officer. Hobbies include disc golf, reading, camping and delivering/critiquing speeches for a local Toastmasters club.
