The House and Senate named its conferees to the TxDOT Sunset Bill (HB 300) conference committee to hammer out differences between the versions of the bill over the weekend.
On the House side are: Rep. Carl Isett (R-Lubbock) co-chairman of the Sunset Advisory Commission which presented a plan to reform TxDOT back in September; Rep. Joe Pickett (D-El Paso) chairman of the House Transportation Committee; Rep. Linda Harper-Brown (R-Dallas); Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon (D-San Antonio); and Rep. Wayne Smith (R-Houston) sponsor of the major transportation bill in the 80th Legislature.
On the Senate side are: Sen. Glenn Hegar (R-Katy) Sunset Advisory Commission co-chair; Sen. John Carona (R-Dalllas), Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee chairman; Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) a former Texas Transportation Commissioner; Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Austin), vice chairman of the Senate transportation committee; and Sen. Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa (D-McAllen), who came as a bit of a surprise to observers as he has not been as active in transportation-related issues as other would-be conferees.
