The Young Conservatives of Texas chapter at the University of Texas encountered some resistance Tuesday evening while distributing flyers at a new student orientation event.

Students Dustin Matocha, Tyler Norris, Josh Perry and Brianna Becker distributed flyers at the Flawn Academic Center, about 50 yards across from where a "diversity training session" (a component of orientation) was taking place. Students gave the flyers to a long line of students on their way to the diversity class in the Hogg Auditorium.

"I wished to exercise our First Amendment right to make incoming Freshmen aware that we believe a certain mandatory program within their four day orientation experience is a session of unabashed indoctrination of liberal ideas," Becker said, in an account of the situation.

A few minutes into the flyer distribution, orientation volunteers attempted to break up the YCTers -- physically blocking them at one point -- telling them their actions were "inappropriate."
