C. M. "Bud" Schauerte

Bud Schauerte is an independent insurance agent in Austin, Texas and a free-lance writer on insurance, community development, and other topics. He currently represents a California-based surplus lines insurer in the development and distribution of high risk property insurance.
Schauerte served as Federal Insurance Administrator in the Federal Emergency Management Administration under former President George Bush. He has 30 years of experience in all insurance disciplines, ranging from independent insurance agent to vice president of the American General Financial Group in Houston.
Schauerte is a former instructor in the College of Technology at the University of Houston, where he taught a required course in business and technical writing. He was also an academic instructor and first lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
Schauerte served as primary election administrator for the Travis County Republican Party in 1996.
Schauerte received three degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia: An associate's degree in arts and science, a bachelor's degree in journalism, and a master's degree in business and journalism. He is married with four children and eight grandchildren.
